- Yes / No / Maybe。
A one-spin protocol, so you do not bargain with the result
Write the question in a full sentence. Agree, out loud if anyone else is in the room, that you will take the first landing. Spin once. Do not add Maybe after it lands on No. Do not widen Yes because “that wasn’t a real spin”. The protocol is the fairness: two equal slices, one draw, a result you can point at. A yes/no wheel that you reroll until it matches your mood is a mood ring.
If you need a record — a household that keeps arguing about whose turn it was to choose the film — leave the result on screen long enough to screenshot, or jot it in a note with the date. Logging is not bureaucracy; it is how you stop the same decision coming back twenty minutes later as if the spin never happened. Local-first helps: the wheel is still on this device tomorrow, with the same two slices, no account required.
Do not use it to dodge a decision you have already made, or to outsource something that needs care rather than chance. A coin is sometimes better: two people, no screen, a result you both watched hit the table. Use the wheel when you want the extra second of suspense, a result that stays visible, or a remote friend who cannot see a physical coin. Use a coin when the whole point is that neither of you is holding the phone.
Teaching chance without turning kids into gamblers
A yes/no wheel is a clean way to show a 50/50: two slices, same size, many spins, a tally on the board. That lesson dies if you then use the same wheel to decide who loses a privilege. Keep probability demos and real consequences on different tools. For a classroom pick of a person, use a name picker with a visible register — not Yes/No dressed up as fate.
Yes/Noの先へ
