Ask for what you want in plain English and SpinBot drives the real tools — it never decides the result.
SpinBot is the assistant built into SpinKit. It sits in the corner of every page, and the thing that makes it different from a chatbot bolted onto a website is that it does not describe the app to you — it operates it. Ask it to build a wheel and a wheel appears, with your entries in it, in the real Wheel Spin tool. This guide covers what it can do, how to ask, which engine is answering you, and the one thing it is never allowed to do.
Opening SpinBot
SpinBot is the small mascot button in the bottom-right corner. Click it to open the panel; click the mascot again, or press Escape, to close it. It stays available while you move between tools, so you can start a request on the home page and finish it inside Wheel Spin.
Just ask, in your own words
You do not need a special syntax. Type the thing you actually want:
- "add Alice, Bob and Priya to the wheel" — the entries go into your current wheel.
- "split these 24 names into 4 teams" — Teams opens with the roster loaded.
- "make a spin sheet with Name, Email and Ticket" — the columns are created in Spin Sheet.
- "open Slots" — takes you there, and nothing else. Navigation never starts a spin.
That last one matters more than it looks. "Open" means open. SpinBot will never quietly run a draw because it thought that was what you meant.
Slash commands, when you already know what you want
Type / in the SpinBot box and a list appears. There are 54 of them, and each one is a shorthand for something SpinKit could already do — /add, /teams, /undo. No model is involved at all: a slash command is a direct instruction, so it works instantly, offline, and identically every time.
Four engines, and how to tell which one answered
Every reply is labelled with where it came from, and you choose how far SpinBot is allowed to go from the engine picker at the foot of the panel. Full settings live under AI Engine in the panel header.
- SpinBot Lite. A deterministic parser that runs on your device. No model, no network, always available — including offline. It handles most everyday phrasing on its own.
- Smart (Local). A small language model downloaded once and run inside your browser. Nothing you type leaves the device. It needs WebGPU, so it is a desktop Chrome or Edge feature; phones are not supported and the section says so rather than failing halfway through a download.
- Smart (API). Your own key from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini or xAI. Requests go straight from your browser to that provider on your account.
- Cloud Boost. A small metered allowance on SpinKit's own budget, for when you have no key and no local model. It asks before it spends anything.
The Auto Selector switch lets SpinBot move up one engine when a request needs more than the one you picked. Turn it off and it stays exactly where you put it. It never moves down: if you chose Smart (Local), Lite will not answer for it.
Watch it work, or drive it yourself
Three modes change how much of the app you see while a request runs. Pick one from the buttons above the chat.
- Quick Mode. Runs the actions directly with concise progress. Best once you trust it.
- Show Me Mode. Navigates to each real control and highlights it as the action runs, so you learn where things are.
- Guide Me Mode. Highlights the control and waits for you to press Next before every step. Nothing happens until you say so.
Using your own API key
Open AI Engine, scroll to the own-key section and paste a key from your provider's console. It is encrypted in your browser with a passphrase you choose, and the passphrase is never stored or sent anywhere — which also means nobody, including us, can recover the key if you forget it. If you sign in, you can turn on sync to carry the encrypted key between your devices; it is still only readable with your passphrase.
Things worth knowing
- It has no memory. Each message is answered on its own, with no history kept. Say what you want in full rather than relying on what you said a moment ago.
- Undo is there. If a request changed something you did not want changed, the panel footer will undo it.
- Big requests get done in parts. Ask for more than one message can carry and SpinBot runs what it can, then tells you plainly what it left.
- It only reaches real features. If SpinKit cannot do something, SpinBot says so rather than inventing a way.
A first run, start to finish
- Open SpinBot from the corner button.
- Type make a wheel called Friday Lunch with Pizza, Sushi, Curry and Tapas.
- Check the wheel it built — the entries are editable exactly as if you had typed them in.
- Press Spin yourself. That part is always yours.
